Want to feel confident to start nursing your new baby – instead of going, “So how do I do this?” as your newborn feels around for your nipple.
The best thing you can do before you start breastfeeding is educate yourself about how breastfeeding and lactation works – and a breastfeeding class is an easy way to do that.
If you’re thinking of taking an online breastfeeding class to get you ready, The Ultimate Breastfeeding Class from Milkology is a great choice.
Designed for moms-to-be and brand new moms, you’ll get all the info on essential breastfeeding skills such as latching and positioning your baby, expressing and storing your milk, figuring out your milk supply and (my personal favourite term) ‘baby output’.
Let’s take a closer look.

Why should you listen to me?
I’m not a lactation consultant (or any kind of medical professional so this seems like a good moment to say this isn’t medical advice.) I’m a mommy who really wanted to breastfeed.
And I did – but let me tell you, mama, that it wasn’t the beautiful, easy experience I was expecting. At least, not at the start. I was tired, sore and angry with myself because I couldn’t do it right. It was tough.
No one can help you much with the tiredness – that’s gonna happen with a new baby – but since taking The Ultimate Breastfeeding Class I’m sure it could’ve helped me with the soreness and self-doubt.
Because breastfeeding is a natural thing to do but it’s a skill that you learn not an instinct like breathing.
And learning about lactation in advance can help you avoid common problems and worries that end up putting a lot of moms off breastfeeding altogether.
Who is The Ultimate Breastfeeding Class for?
Let’s be really specific now and not waste your time.
This is a class by a lactation consultant for brand new breastfeeding moms. It walks you through everything you need to know to get started and succeed with breastfeeding.
That’s not to say that it’s no use to a second or third time mom – I found my skills got rusty real fast and I, uh, forgot lots of things. (Mommy brain is real!)
So if it’s not your first breastfeeding rodeo, it’s still well worth the $19 investment to get right back up to speed again before your new baby arrives.
It’s not really intended for moms who are pumping – but Milkology does have courses for working pumping moms and exclusively pumping moms – more about them below. (There is a section about expressing and storing your breastmilk in The Ultimate Breastfeeding Class, however.)
What will you learn?
Ok, so what are you actually gonna learn in the course?
The Ultimate Breastfeeding Class is full of practical, actionable advice that you can apply as soon as you have a baby.
You learn the skills for success plus what to expect from your new baby. It’s easy to worry that something is wrong with your little one (or you) but after completing this class you’ll have a clear picture of when you need to worry and when you don’t.
You’ll want to get this right as soon as possible – unless you like pain – and creator Stacey will walk you through how to get a great latch even with a newborn.
How should you feed? There’s a lot of personal preference in this – but it’s worth learning a few options in advance. You’ll learn some nursing positions that you can try right away with your newborn.
Supply can be a huge issue for breastfeeding moms, whether you have too much and your breasts are like warheads or not enough and your baby seems constantly hungry. (Hint: You probably DO have enough. That baby is just getting you to make even more.)
Expressing and storing
Unless you’ll be constantly attached to your baby for the next few months, you’ll probably want to express or pump breastmilk at some point. There’s a whole lesson on that too so you can get the milk you need and store it safely.
What to expect – ‘baby output’
Yes, that’s exactly what you think it is! Pees and poops. How often? What will they be like?
If you’re not talking about it yet, you will be soon. Probably over dinner with your husband who will also think it’s normal.
But away from bathroom matters, you’ll also learn what the first month with your breastfed baby will be like. And after that? You’ll get a great picture of what you can expect from your baby and your breastfeeding journey too.
Support for mom
Even when it’s going well, breastfeeding is a time-consuming, exhausting thing. Get some support organised in advance to make it a little easier. There’s a section to show you how – don’t skip it! You don’t have to be a mommy-hero. People LIKE helping their new parent friends out!
What is not included in this class?
The Ultimate Breastfeeding Class is not really intended for moms who are already breastfeeding but experiencing problems, (if that’s where you are, try the Exclusive Pumping class?) so you won’t find a huge amount of information about coping with breastfeeding pain. (There is the troubleshooting guide, though.) This is a course about starting breastfeeding with a brand new baby.
And it’s not intended for big time pumpers either but you can get pumping info from Milkology by taking one of the other two courses on offer, which are….
Milkology also offers two pumping classes, The Ultimate Back-to-Work Pumping Class and The Ultimate Exclusive Pumping Class.
This class is perfect for the mommy who’s established with breastfeeding and heading back to work while still nursing. There’s such a lot to juggle with finding time to pump at work and home and creating a new routine but this class will guide you right through.
So that’s one less thing to worry about.
And you’ll get an offer to buy it at a discount right after you sign up for the Ultimate Breastfeeding Class.
For some moms, no matter how hard they try, breastfeeding just isn’t a lot of fun. If you find it hurts and you can’t fix it but you really want to breastfeed, the Ultimate Exclusive Pumping Class is here to show you how it can all be easy. Well, easy might be pushing it – pumping and then bottle feeding is work, mama – but she’ll get you organised and feeling like you can do this!
What to do now?
Here’s what to do. If you’d like someone to sit beside you and explain everything you need to know for a successful breastfeeding experience, jump right over and sign up for the Ultimate Breastfeeding Class right now.
No more googling and wondering, just straight forward information and practical strategies to get you good to go.
